Lots of people have asked where we will be going on our sailing trip. We don't have many fixed plans as we want to be flexible but here is a rough idea of what we might be doing.
So far, we have been to the Channel Islands (Twice!), Devon, France, Cornwall, Ireland, spent the summer cruising in Scotland, back to Cornwall via Belfast, Ireland and the Isles of Scilly. We had a couple of weeks in Cornwall while we did some work to the boat, and then headed across the Bay of Biscay to Vigo. From Vigo we sailed to Madeira, then to Lanzarote ans then to Las Palmas on Gran Canaia, where we are now (late October). We will have a few weeks here to get ready for the Atlantic Crossing. So far, on arrival in Las Palmas, we have sailed about 4,000 nautical miles since we left Southampton.
We have signed up to join the ARC+ rally, which leaves the Canary Islands on November 10th to sail to Mindelo in the Cape Verde islands, then leaves Mindelo on November 22nd heading for Grenada in the Caribbean. The crossing from the Cape Veredes to the Caribbean should take two weeks or so, meaning we should arrive in Grenada sometime around December 10th.
After we arrive in the Caribbean, we'll see how we feel before deciding what's next. This will be the first ocean crossing for Sarah, Archie and Fergus, so we hope they enjoy it and want to do more. If everything is going well, we'd like to head west and through Panama to cross the Pacific to New Zealand during 2025. But, that route requires a lot more long passages (and more money!), so we'll make a decision after we've got an Atlantic Crossing under our belts.
