After leaving Scotland on the evening of Saturday 10th, we made good time overnight and by dawn were off Kintyre. We decided to continue on to Carrickfergus, and arrived at lunchtime on Sunday.
On Sunday afternoon, we went to visit Carrickfergus Castle.
It was very old and interesting, and they had a cool giant chess set on the top floor of the keep.
Fergus was happy to find out that the place is called "Rock of Fergus" and that Fergus was the first king of Scotland.
On Monday, we met up with our friends Sam, Jo and James. We spent the morning in Carrickfergus and in the afternoon we visited the Giant's Causeway on the North coast. We walked down from the visitor centre to the causeway and climbed over the bassalt columns.
We visited the Giants Boot - a rock in a boot shape. Afterwards, we went for dinner in Ballycastle.
On Tuesday we went to the Titantic Museum in Belfast city. I've wanted to go there for ages ever since I did a project on Titanic during lockdown. It was really good, there was a cool ride that explained all about how the Titantic was built and the different jobs involved.
We learned more about the Titanic, about Belfast at the time the Titanic was built, and about Harland and Wolff, the shipyard where she was built.
We went on board the "Nomadic", which was the tender built by Harland and Wolff that was used to board passengers in Cherbourg.
In the afternoon we visited C.S. Lewis Square, which has sculptures of characters from "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe".
On Wednesday we went to visit Sam at his Grandparents house by the beach at Ballygalley. We went on the paddleboards in the surf and did some cool runs in, but on one of the runs we got tipped off in the surf!
Fergus tried to paddle to the Kintyre Peninsular and Daddy had to go out and turn him around. After the day on the beach we had a BBQ at Sam's grandparents and Mummy had a bath!
On Thursday morning we went to a bouldering wall in Belfast that Sam had been to before. We loved the bouldering and tried lots of different problems.
On Thursday afternoon we left Carrickfergus and headed overnight to Dun Laogharie. Jo, James and Sam came for lunch on board and then waved us off.
We arrived at about 4am while me and Fergus were asleep. In the morning we fuelled the boat and moved to a different berth, then Daddy had to rebuild the toilet to try and fix it while we did homeschool.
In the afternoon we met Emilia, who will be joining us as crew to help sail from Dun Laogharie to Falmouth.
