On Tuesday morning, we left Sandaig quite early and motored up through the narrows at Kyle Rhea between Skye and the mainland. The tide was with us and we were doing 10.7 knots. We stopped at Kyle of Lochalsh near the Skye Bridge. We saw lots of jellyfish by the pontoon.
We went ashore and explored the little town. We visited a little distillery and met their dog, then we went to the museu at the station. They had a working model railway of the station in the 1960s when it was much busier. We bought some wool to make pompoms.
After home school and lunch we left Lochalsh and headed North under the Skye Bridge, towards Rona. We anchored in a little harbour called Arairseid Mhor. We went for a little walk ashore and bought some venison burgers from a little hut.
The next day at home school we finished off by doing some art, painting pictures of flowers.
After lunch, we went for a longer walk up the hill with views over the anchorage and we found some sparkly bits of quartz. We found mussel shells right at the top of the hill. We think the birds must have taken them up there to smash them open on the rocks.
On the way to Acairseid Mhor we made pompoms from the wool we bought in Kyle. We are going to try and make some money by making and selling pompoms!
After lunch we sailed to Portree. It was quite windy but we had a nice sail with only the genoa up. In the evening, we watched the England - Netherlands Euro 2024 semi final which England won at the last minute, which was very exciting!
Today we explored Portree and has fish and chips for lunch. It's quite a small town!
Tomorrow, if the wind has eased off as forecast, we're going to try and get around to the North West of Skye, and hopefully meet some friends of Daddy's.
