On Tuesday, we sailed up the Sound of Jura, past Craobh Haven, through Cuan Sound and up to Loch Spelve on Mull. The sail across the Firth of Lorne was quite lumpy and bumpy, but Loch Spelve was quiet and sheltered, although there was lots of rain.
On Wednesday we sailed across to Kerrera Marina near Oban. We picked up a mooring and went ashore to do laundry, and we had a pizza for dinner. A huge mega yacht came and anchored in Oban Bay that evening, it looked like a military boat, it had two big expensive tenders, and it had a helicopter on the top deck.
The next day we went into Oban. We did some home school ashore, and then went to the bookshop where I (Archie) found the second book in the Greenwild series. It was signed by the author, and I've already read it twice from start to finish. It's a great book and I recommend the Greenwild series. We had hot dogs for lunch and then went swimming. It was good fun, they had little goals at the side of the pool and we played games trying to score goals with our heads, and then doing goalkeeping while Mummy and Daddy tried to score. We found an underwater jet of water that pushed us around the pool.
The next day, Friday, we motored up the Sound of Mull to Tobermory.
We stayed for two nights.
On the first night we bought some prawns from a boy who had just caught them, they were very tasty.
We explored the town on the first afternoon.
The next day walked along through the woods to a cool waterfall.
After lunch we went to a play park and we made a new friend called Aaron. He came back to the boat with us and we traded Pokemon cards with him. In the evening we watched the England v Switzerland football match. There was a really nerve wracking penalty shoot out. At the end England won and we cheered very loudly.
Yesterday morning, we motored from Tobermory to the Isle of Rum.
On the way we saw a pod of about 20 dolphins nearby, we saw a puffin, and when we arrived on Rum we saw fish, crabs, and starfish.
We walked around the bay and saw a cool castle that is full of interesting historical artefacts, but it is closed so we couldn't look around but we looked through the windows.
Daddy has looked around it before when he was younger.
In the afternoon we had a nice sail from Rum to Loch Scavaig on Skye. We went ashore to try and find some mussels foir dinner but thge tide was too high so we beached the tender and did some exploring ashore.
This morning we all went ashore again and walked up a big hill that we thought looked like a dragons head. We had an incredible view around Loch Scavaig, out towards other islands, and across Loch Coruisk which is a freshwater loch.
On the way down we helped guide Mummy so her shoes didn't get too muddy.
This afternoon, we motorsailed from Loch Scavaig to Sandaig Bay which is where we are now anchored. We saw an amazing pod of about 20 dolphins but this time they came up close and played around the bow and stayed for nearly 20 minutes. It was really exciting because there were at one point about 10 dolphins near the bow.
