On Monday and Tuesday we had chilled days at the marina. We did home school, did some grocery shopping, Daddy did some work on the boat and we went to the pool in the afternoon.
On Wednesday after home school and lunch, we went to the aquarium near Arrecife. I (Archie) thought the aquarium was amazing. In the first part we went through, there were shoals of local fish. Then it got more interesting, there were a load of little pools with star fish and hermit crabs.
Then there was an area with a glass pod that you could sit inside and beneath it was a huge sting ray on the bottom of the tank.
Then we came to an area where they rescue turtles. The cutest thing was a tiny turtle that was swimming around the tank.
The next interesting thing was an octopus which mostly stayed a bit hidden.
Then there was a huge tank with a big viewing window containing lots of different fish and sharks cruising around, including a zebra shark. It's a bit weirtd that it is called a zebra shark as a zebra is famous for its stripes but a zebrta shark is spotty.
Next there was a tunnel thorugh a tank containing two black tip reef sharks which swam over our heads.
On Thursday, Daddy realised that the forecast for the weekend wasn't ideal for sailing to Gran Canaria, so we decided to leave Lanzarote and head straight for Las Palmas when the wind was quite calm. We sorted the boat out, got ready to leave and finally departed just before lunch.
We motored through the afternoon and evening, and got into Las Palmas just after midnight.
Mummy and Daddy brought us into harbour, so we were here when we woke up this morning. We did some lego while Daddy booked us in and filled the fuel, then we moved the boat to our berth for the next 4 weeks while we prepare for the Atlantic Crossing.
We went to explore the marina and had some lunch at a cafe, and we got some passes for the yacht club so that we can use the pool.
We're looking forward to being able to explore Las Palmas and Gran Canaria over the next few weeks.
