On Wednesday after home school, we took the bus to Gorey. We had lunch at a beach cafe and then went to see the Castle. In the castle they had dressing up things so we dressed up as knights.
We explored the castle and the towers, there were good views across to France.
We saw a Falconer with a Harris Hawk and learned where the phrase "hoodwinked" comes from. The bird was a bit naughty and didn't always do what the falconer wanted which made everybody laugh.
On Thursday after home school, we hired an EV and went around the coast of Jersey. We visited the La Corbiere lighthouse and Le Braye beach, and went to the Military Museum.
In the museum, which is in an abandoned bunker, we saw a very special machine... an original Enigma Machine.
The Enigma Machine was used by the Germans to send and receive coded messages. Some clever code breakers in England managed to break the Enigma code so the allies knew what the Germans were saying.
We explored a few different beaches and found lots of cuttlefish and some fish egg pouches.
On Friday we sailed from Jersey to St Malo. The trip was downwind so was nice and easy. We saw a big wind farm at sea. To get to the marina in St Malo we needed to go through a big lock. We were in the lock with a giant supertrawler that had been at sea for three months.
In the afternoon we explored St Malo and the beach and had a nice dinner of Gallettes at a French cafe.
On Saturday morning, we saw the Olympic Torch being carried through St Malo as part of the preparation for the Pais Olympic Games this summer.
Dad's cousin Jonny came and picked us up and took us to the place where they were on holiday just South of St Malo.
We met up with our second cousins Bella and Isaac and went swimming and played pool and darts. We had a BBQ and stayed the night. We watched the Champions League Final.
This morning we went swimming again then came back to St Malo and showed our cousins on board Coconut before they had to catch the ferry home to Jersey.
