Sailing 'Octopus 2'
We have a second tender on Coconut called 'Octopus 2' (we had a different tender before called 'Octopus'). 'Octopus 2' can be sailed, motored or rowed and we hadn't tried sailing her before. We rigged her up and took her sailing but the wind died so we sailed very slowly and didn't go very far. But at least we know how to sail her now. After we drifted about we sailed her back to Coconut for lunch.
Night sail across the channel
On Thursday night, we sailed back across the channel to Brixham. Me and Fergus went to bed before we left just before 10pm. It feels nice and snug being in bed when the boat is moving. This time the engine was running as there wasn't much wind. The engine noise puts Fergus to sleep, and I like it when the boat is rocking. Sometimes it is easier to get to sleep on a rocking boat.
Mummy and Daddy took turns to be on watch across the channel. Daddy got us through the shipping lanes and Mummy took us toward land. I woke up at 2am and waved to Daddy from the hatch but he was keeping lookout and didn't see me so I went back to bed. When me and Fergus woke up we were close to land. Now we are in Brixham in Devon.
Seeing the traditional boats
We came to Brixham because there is a heritage regatta this weekend which is when lots of traditional boats get together to meet up and have a race. One of the boats is called "Provident" and Daddy used to run it when he worked for Trinity Sailing before I was born. I went with Daddy to practice driving the tender and we decided to go out into the harbour to see some of the boats coming in and see Provident and Pilgrim sailing. The boats will be sailing today and racing tomorrow.
